Elder Runes in Four Colors

Our Elder Runes come in four different colors and are the perfect size for Futhark rune readings when away from home. Each set comes complete in a velvet bag with the standard 24 characters plus the blank Wyrd. Each rune stone is either stone or crystal and measures approximately 16 mm by 21 mm, slightly larger than our Traveler’s Runes. The Elder Runes are available in four colors:

Viking Runes

For more than 1,500 years, the 24 symbols of the Elder Futhark alphabet sat at the heart of Norse lore. Equal parts alphabet, learning tool, record keeper and prophesy, runes helped keep the Viking tales of gods and giants alive for centuries.

In Norse mythology, the maiden Norns carved the first runes based on wisdom they received from the Well of Urd. The god king Odin sacrificed himself on the world tree Yggdrasil for nine days and nights so that his eyes would open to the true meaning of the strange symbols.
