For more than 1,500 years, rune stones have been at the heart of Norse lore. In Viking mythology, the first Futhark runes were carved in stone by the three maiden Norns based on the divine wisdom they received from the Well of Urd — the source of all destiny and fate. The god king Odin sacrificed himself on the world tree Yggdrasil for nine days and nights so that his eyes would open to the true meaning of the strange symbols.
A special way of drawing and interpreting the Older Futhark runic alphabet, the Crossroad Runes have been passed down through my family for generations. Unlike traditional readings, Crossroad Runes are always considered in pairs. In this unique method, two runes are drawn, each one at a time, and read always right-side up — never inverted. How does each ancient symbol influence and complement the other? How is each interpreted through the lens on the second?
The truth is there is no wrong way to read the runes. Trust your gut and follow your instincts. If you’d like additional guidance, below are some of the resources I’ve found useful when sharing with others. Always, however, choose the methods, meanings, and systems that make sense to you.
If you would like to talk to with me directly and schedule a personal rune reading, please use the contact form below. We can find a time and communication tool (Skype, Zoom, Facetime, etc.) that works best for us both. I ask for a $20 honorarium for the reading, and a one-on-one session may last for 15 to 30 minutes. We will discuss what the runes can and can’t do, talk about the question or questions you have in mind, then conduct the two rune Crossroad reading. If you have any questions at any time, please reach out and let me know.
