The Northeast Florida Scottish Games & Festival are celebrating 20 years of bringing a "wee bit o’ Scotland" to the Sunshine State. Each year residents of northeast Florida and the surrounding areas gather and enjoy the athletics, music, food and fun of the games. Originating in the Scottish Highlands during the 11th Century, Highland Games have long been a favorite spectacle, and they’re sure to be a major draw again at the 2017 St. Augustine Celtic Music & Heritage Festival March 11 & 12. You’ll see some of the most impressive kilt-wearing athletes around challenge one another in traditional Scottish heavy athletics and strength competitions, including the weight throw, the Scottish hammer throw, and the always entertaining caber toss.
