In Scottish folklore the gullible wolf is often paired with the cunning fox. Despite the wolf’s best intentions, he always falls for the fox’s devious tricks.

The myth of the Wulver began in the areas around the Shetland Islands, then spread throughout Scotland. Essentially a man-wolf covered in brown hair, the Wulver represented a wolf evolving to be more like a human. Unlike most werewolves in European lore, the Wulver is a friendly creature, often leaving fish for poor families or helping lost travellers find their way home.
